Dr. Shashi Buluswar is the Founder & President of the Institute for Transformative Technologies (ITT). A spinoff from the Berkeley National Lab, ITT develops breakthrough technology solutions for sustainable global development. Over the past decade, ITT has launched the largest solar mini-grid and natural sanitation infrastructures in India, and Africa's first medical oxygen franchise. From 2021-22, Shashi worked with Bill Gates as the founding CEO of Global Health Labs, a technology innovation partner to the Gates Foundation. Prior to ITT, Shashi was a Partner at Dalberg Advisors, a mission-driven strategy consulting firm serving NGOs, foundations, governments and multilateral institutions. Before Dalberg, he was an Associate Partner at McKinsey and a Visiting Professor at Northwestern University. He holds a PhD from the University of Massachusetts in Robotics and an MBA from Northwestern University. Beyond professional interests, Shashi spent a decade competing on the Indian national rowing team, and made a critically acclaimed documentary film about the India-Pakistan conflict and “cricket diplomacy”. He also teaches at the University of California at Berkeley.
